Information For Companies

Read on for information on how to get your business legally compliant!

The Australian clothing industry tends towards relying on long supply chains for the manufacture of goods.

This reliance on multiple levels of contracting for the manufacture of fashion has led to extensive and serious problems in health and safety for workers, and has led to the extensive exploitation of outworkers at the bottom of supply chains.

As a response to the serious erosion of workers livelihoods within the clothing industry, conditions have been imposed on the contracting out of work by employers and fashion houses.

This section of the website is dedicated to assisting companies, from retailers to fashion houses and factory operators, to understand the dynamics within supply chains that lead to exploitation and the measures put in place to limit irresponsible and potentially harmfull contracting practices.

We have included helpful tools and tips for companies wanting their production performed ethically and legally and invite companies to contact us with any queries.  The Union is open to working with companies and supply chains to improve conditions and contribute to increased productivity and transparency within the local industry.
