Dear Members,
Last year was an important year for Australian workers and their families as we finally saw the end of the Howard Government and its anti-worker ‘WorkChoices’ laws.
The rejection of the Howard Government’s laws played a huge part in affecting the way Australians voted. Our union and the whole union movement through the Your Rights At Work Campaign can be proud of the role we played in this historic victory for working people.
I want to thank all of you who participated in the campaign and who have worked so hard to protect your conditions at work.
We will of course have to now make sure that the Rudd Labor Government delivers on its promises. We will continue in 2008 to campaign hard for the rights of Australian workers to be protected and improved.
To do this we’ll need your help. With active and united members, the Union movement can win back workers’ rights and improve conditions.
I look forward to working with you in this next phase of the campaign to win back our rights at work.
